Nanny's Baked Beans

The beans are assembled in layers and cooked slowly for at least 2-1/2 hours. The beans can be assembled the night before and baked the day of serving. Nanny triples this recipe for family picnics.

Ingredients
(2) 15-1/2 oz. Campbell's pork and beans
3/4 c. dark brown sugar
1-2 T. yellow mustard
6 strips of raw bacon, diced or snipped into very small pieces
1/2 c. ketchup

Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
2. Empty half the beans into a casserole.
3. Mix the brown sugar and mustard. Use enough mustard to make the mixture spreadable. Spread half the sugar/mustard mixture over the beans.
4. Cover with half the raw bacon bits.
5. Repeat those three layers...beans, sugar, bacon...again.
6. Cover the top bacon layer entirely with the ketchup. Use more ketchup if necessary to cover every bacon bit. Spread it from one side of the dish to the other.
7. Bake at 325 degrees F for a minimum of 2-1/2 hours uncovered.

Serves 8.
